What Is an Updated CO Anyway and Do You Really One?

03/31/21

CO...what is it? It stands for Certificate of Occupancy. When a home is finalized with its construction, it will receive a Certificate of Occupancy. When selling the same home in specific villages like Westhampton Beach or in Quogue, you will need to get your Certificate of Occupancy (CO) updated in order to sell. There is a time span to allow for obtaining such an update. Currently, the Town of Southampton does not require obtaining such an update. Oftentimes, changes may have been made to a home that may require permits, approvals, or even inspections. This along with other factors can affect your sale process. Let's have a conversation about it so as to keep you well informed when either buying or selling.
